Storage and stability: why it matters more than you think

Storage instructions are the most-skipped part of any label, and one of the few things entirely within your control.

What degrades supplements

Heat, light, moisture and oxygen. Liquids are generally more vulnerable than dry powders and tablets, because water enables chemical reactions that a dry format slows down.

Why some products need refrigerating after opening

Opening introduces air and, over time, microbial exposure. Where a formulation's stability depends on staying cool, the manufacturer will specify refrigeration once the seal is broken. That instruction is not decorative.

Use-by-after-opening periods

Separate from the expiry date. A product can be well within its printed expiry and still be past its recommended window once opened.

Practical habits

Keep supplements out of direct sunlight and away from the hob and kettle. A bathroom cabinet is a worse location than most people assume, because of humidity. Reseal properly. Follow the specific instruction on the pack rather than a general rule.

Our sublingual spray should be stored below 25°C, out of direct sunlight, and refrigerated once opened.
